On Multi-Label Linear Interval Routing Schemes

چکیده
We consider linear interval routing schemes studied by [3, 5] from a graph-theoretic perspective. We examine how the number of linear intervals needed to obtain shortest path routings in networks is affected by the product, join and composition operations on graphs. This approach allows us to generalize some of the results of [3, 5] concerning the minimum number of intervals needed to achieve shortest path routings in certain special classes of networks. We also establish an X n lower bound on the minimum number of intervals needed to achieve shortest path routings in the network considered.

Linear Interval Routing
We study a variant of Interval Routing SK85, LT86] where the routing range associated with every link is represented by a linear (i.e., contiguous) interval with no wrap around. This kind of routing schemes arises naturally in the study of dynamic Preex Routing BLT90]. Linear Interval Routing schemes are precisely the Preex Routing schemes that use an alphabet of one symbol. We characterize the...

An Interval Routing Scheme (IRS) is a well-known, space efficient routing strategy for routing messages in a distributed network. In this scheme, each node of the network is assigned an integer label and each link at each node is labeled with an interval. The interval assigned to a link e at a node v indicates the set of destination addresses of the messages which should be forwarded through e ...

In this paper, we investigate which processor networks allow klabel Interval Routing Schemes, under the assumption that costs of edges may vary. We show that for each fixed k ≥ 1, the class of graphs allowing such routing schemes is closed under minor-taking in the domain of connected graphs, and hence has a linear time recognition algorithm. This result connects the theory of compact routing w...
